I know the internet--which I prefer to think of as a series of tubes--has missed my unique and uncompromising voice over the last few weeks. Believe it or not, I've been very busy.
Here's a quick update. I winged the radio show last Sunday, but ended up falling in love with the playlist. Yeah...fell in love. This playlist may be the one.
My brain doctor had me on seroquel (a very small amount) as a sleep aid. My brain doctor is weird. The seroquel crushed me--made it difficult to get out of bed, falling asleep all day, no energy. Sure as hell helped me sleep, though, and it gave me huge, personal, melancholy dreams. But seroquel is an anti-psychotic drug and everyone who knew anything about it from doctor to friend said, "Good God, why does she have you on that?" Pretty damn good question. So I'm off that and I'm springing right out of bed, not taking naps during the day, and have much more energy. Nice.
Dad's still doing well. He had his first round of high-tech chemo last week and he came out with flying colors. Went right home and picked up the Christmas tree which had apparently fallen over. The doctors even said he could go back to work and they've been reporting to him that he's now eligible for a number of tests and studies--all of which have a remarkable success rate with his particular disorder.
I haven't been posting or responding to emails because I've been trying to knock out two podcasts for Historic Sites for the last two weeks. Every step of the process has been beset with technical or other difficulties, compounded by the fact that I know absolutely nothing about any aspect of audio editing. So, I've been playing with equalizers, microphones, background hiss and hum, tapping phone lines, and invariably making things worse than better. But you people have been kind enough to buy me some high speed audio software that will be easy to use and far more effective.
Here is the Historic Sites podcast page. The Stagville and the Jonkonnu posts are the ones I've been working on. I still don't have the damn thing on an iTunes feed, but that's the next hurdle. One of these days I might achieve adequate status on podcast production!
And, as usual, some things I not telling you about. Tee hee
